We departed Colorado Springs following a weekend of down days to catch up on laundry, truck maintenance, etc.

It is with regret to inform you of the departure of Beas from the ride, due to health issues and concerns.  He touched many lives and we will miss his presence.

Along the way to Lamar, Colorado, on US 50 we stopped at a little town named Fowler where Abel once spent his summers with family.

And were met by his uncles...

And Aunts...

And more Aunts.

Who welcomed us along with Bushie, the Mayor of Fowler, and probably half of the local populace.

Feted us with a locally grown delicacy.

With all of the relatives occupying Fowler, Abel is petitioning the Colorado Governor to rename the town Santa Cruz.  We are still waiting for his response.

As local elections for Santa Cruz are not until 2008, Abel rejoins the group and continues to pedal Eastward to Lamar, Colorado.  Joe wants to know if Santa Cruz is Spanish for Santa Claus.  Abel, as usual, removes his hearing aids and smiles at Joe.

After a great day of riding, we arrive in Lamar, ready to face the ride to Dodge city tomorrow.
